Maruti Suzuki India is all set to enter the mid-size SUV segment with the all-new Grand Vitara. The brand will announce the specifications, details, trims and prices of the new car on 20th July. Note that this is not official, and the price might be just a placeholder to be replaced by the actual price later.

Maruti Grand Vitara price leaked: To be cheaper than Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos!

According to the information on the website, the new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara will get a sticker price of Rs 9.5 lakh, which will make it cheaper than the competition cars. The all-new Grand Vitara will take on the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in the Indian market among other cars like the Nissan Kicks.

The price of the Hyundai Creta starts at Rs 10.44 lakh while the Kia Seltos gets a base price of Rs 10.19 lakh, ex-showroom. The price undercut will allow Maruti Suzuki to cover the lost ground. Maruti Suzuki has never offered a mid-size SUV in the Indian market giving a free run to the cars like Creta and Seltos in the market.

Just like the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Maruti Suzuki is likely to offer an all-new model with strong and mild hybrid options. Both the competition – Creta and Seltos do not offer any such fuel-saving tech.

But it will be interesting to see the pricing of the strong hybrid variant of the new model. Since Toyota is yet to announce the prices of the new car, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara’s pricing will be important.

2022 Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

The all-new Grand Vitara will be visually similar to the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder in terms of looks and specifications. However, there will be Maruti Suzuki-specific changes that will include a different grille and a few other changes. The feature list of both cars may vary slightly. Both the cars will be manufactured by Toyota Bharat at its Bidadi plant in Karnataka.

Just like the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara may offer a strong hybrid option and AWD system as well. It will come powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol K12C DualJet engine that also powers the new XL6 and the new Brezza.

Toyota offers two different hybrid options. The Neo Drive gets a mild-hybrid set-up with an auto start/stop and regeneration system. A stronger hybrid architecture is available too. It is a proper high-capacity hybrid system with a 177.6V lithium-ion battery pack.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder gets a 1.5-litre Atkinson Cycle engine that produces a maximum power of 92 PS and a peak torque of 122 Nm. It gets a 14:1 compression ratio and temperature and pressure control to help achieve a thermal efficiency of 40 per cent. The engine is paired with an electric motor that produces a maximum of 79 PS and 141 Nm. The strong hybrid power plant produces a maximum of 115 PS of combined power.
